Creating and Leaving Your Legacy
A legacy is the mark we leave on the world through our values, achievements, and the impact we have on others. For many people, supporting future generations through education, care, and community is an important part of that legacy.
The Australian Nurses Memorial Centre (ANMC) invites supporters to consider leaving a legacy gift, also known as a bequest, to help continue supporting nurses and midwives across Australia for years to come.
What is a Legacy Gift?
A legacy gift, or bequest, is a donation made through your will. It allows you to leave a lasting contribution that reflects your values and supports causes that are meaningful to you.
Legacy gifts to the ANMC may take the form of:
- Monetary donations
- Scholarship support
- Gifts of shares or assets
- Contributions toward specific nursing initiatives
By including the ANMC in your will, your gift can help provide ongoing support for nursing education, scholarships, remembrance initiatives, and the future of the profession.

Your bequest can help:
- Support postgraduate scholarships for nurses and midwives

Bequests may support a specific scholarship or initiative, or be used at the discretion of the ANMC Directors to support the Centre’s ongoing work.
How Do I Make a Legacy Gift?
Every adult should consider having a will, regardless of age. A will is an important legal document that helps ensure your wishes are protected and your estate is managed according to your intentions.
If you do not currently have a will, you may wish to speak with a solicitor who specialises in wills and estate planning.
A bequest is included within your will and may reserve all or part of your estate for beneficiaries or causes that hold personal meaning to you. If you are considering leaving a bequest to the ANMC, we encourage you to discuss your intentions with your solicitor.
The ANMC can also assist by providing suggested wording and guidance once you have decided how you would like your gift to support the Centre.
